Your Space. Your Style. Your Way.
Marg knew the style she wanted for her renovated master bedroom ensuite, but she didn’t know where to start. She went online and visited a few stores, but the process felt overwhelming, and the tile she found seemed outside her budget. Luckily, her contractor suggested a visit to the Surrey/Cloverdale Tile Town, and that made all the difference.
But when Chevonne suggested some beautiful 12×24 Legacy tiles that would play off the marble of the bathtub and floor, Marg knew she had a winner. “That was the showstopper.”
Chevonne, one of Tile Town’s Design Consultants, worked with Marg to narrow down the right tones and textures that would complement the tub and counter, before moving on to the accent to tie everything together. “I wanted a little bling,” Marg said, “but it seemed like it wouldn’t fit my budget.” But when Chevonne suggested some beautiful 12×24 Legacy tiles that would play off the marble of the bathtub and floor, Marg knew she had a winner. “That was the showstopper.”
The finished ensuite speaks for itself. With a custom blend of warm taupes, gleaming whites, blended Italian marble, and subtle tile patterns, it’s everything Marg was hoping for, and best of all, well within her budget. In fact, Marg loved her new ensuite so much; she took the opportunity to renovate her guest bathroom in much the same way!
“I’m blown away by how it all turned out. Chevonne especially helped me with the colour palette in two very important areas, and it made all the difference.” Marg – Langley, BC
It’s often difficult to talk about mental illness whether this is something that is affecting you or somebody that you know. But mental illness is one of the most widespread health issues across this country affecting one in five Canadians at some point in their life.
According to the Mental Health Commission of Canada, in any given week 500,000 Canadians are unable to work due to mental health problems.
That’s why we’re lending a hand and joining the stigma-busting campaign on January 29. During the 10th annual Bell Let’s Talk Day, Tile Town staff are encouraging customers to continue talking about mental health after the campaign and help create positive change in the lives of Canadians.
It’s estimated that two thirds of people living with mental illness do not seek help because they’re hesitant to talk about it – let alone seek treatment.
Overcoming the stigma and getting help is one of the strongest things you can do for your mental health. Join the conversation on January 29 with people you care about and may be concerned about. Let’s help end the stigma around mental illness.
You are not alone; let’s talk.
We often forget there are many low-income families in our communities that struggle to make ends meet. During the winter months we hear of drives for food and presents, but clothing is another item in high demand.
During November our Surrey and Richmond Tile Town locations were filled with coats during the 2019 Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN) Coats for Kids Campaign.
With 54 HAVAN member companies offering 72 drop-off locations for coats, scarfs, blankets, and gloves, in 16 municipalities across Metro Vancouver, response was overwhelming to support families in need for the Lower Mainland and Surrey Christmas Bureaus.
Along with Kennedy’s efforts, Tile Town collected over 150 coats and 100 toques. Thank you to everyone who dropped off new and gently worn coats.
Just as the drive came to a close, Trail Appliances and Caesarstone Canada hosted a heartwarming event for all HAVAN companies and their team at Trail Appliances in Richmond.
Guests were treated to warm eats and sweet treats, choir music, hot cocoa, the Grinch, Cindy Loo Who, Max, and the Gingerman too! Santa was also onsite for photo ops.
Tile Town is looking forward to participating next year.
Thanks to their ability to add texture and subtle pattern, petite hexagonal and penny tiles may be here to stay. For a bathroom to stay fashionable, it’s usually a good idea to stick to tiles that are classic and fairly neutral. But that doesn’t mean they have to be boring: Small-scale hexagonal tiles add texture, pattern and even a touch of glamour. Penny tiles, their softer-edged sister, can give a similar effect and are included here.
Tile Town stores in Victoria, Surrey, Richmond, and Edmonton were filled with gourmet food baskets in celebration of Italian Days. Every two weeks during April and May five lucky winners, one from each of our stores, won a gift basket filled with Italian-inspired goodies.
As the last of the gift baskets were collected, Tile Town’s Grand Prize winner was selected. The lucky name drawn was Rebecca Hepburn from Vancouver, BC. Rebecca won a pair of return tickets on an Air Canada flight to Rome, Italy PLUS $2,000 cash.
Absolutely thrilled, Rebecca tells us that she’s never won anything. Funnily enough, Rebecca wasn’t intending to enter the Italian Days contest when she was in the Richmond store looking for tile – but Judi insisted.
It’s been 12 years since Rebecca and her husband moved to Canada from the United Kingdom and they couldn’t be happier to win a holiday. As Rebecca tells us, “our parents are going to help us with childminding so we can get away, just the two of us. My husband and I can’t wait to see Rome again for the art, history, architecture, and, of course, the beautifully tiled and often hand-painted courtyards. This trip, however, we want to tackle some of the Italian countryside. It will be magical.”
Italian tile is designed to last for decades without fading and scratching. Its superior craftsmanship with more realistic and natural appearance is why 80% of Tile Town’s stock is the latest Italian-made tile.
We welcome the opportunity to improve our customer’s quality of life by creating and enhancing your space. Come visit one of our showrooms when you’re ready to begin your home project.

Christie Williams spends much of her time taking care of other people. In addition to raising two young daughters with her husband, Matt, she runs a nonprofit called Wins for Warriors that helps veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder.
Model and actress Kate Upton, who happens to be Christie’s younger sister, knew that Christie wouldn’t find time to pamper herself, so Upton recently surprised Christie by renovating the couple’s outdated guest bathroom, office area and master bedroom and bathroom in their Melbourne, Florida, home. “Christie’s always been very nurturing to everyone around her, and she’s still like that today,” Upton says. “So all of my memories of her growing up were really her watching over me, so it’s nice to be able to reverse the roles and take care of her.”
Bold patterned tile and wallpaper, soothing shades of blue and touches of glamour gave the home just the right atmosphere for Christie and her busy family.
All Tile Town staff across British Columbia and Alberta are wearing green in support of Green Shirt Day to honour the “Logan Boulet effect”. The selfless act of Logan Boulet, a young Saskatchewan Humbolt Broncos hockey player, ensured six lives could live.
Logan was a registered organ donor. After news that Logan’s parents donated their son’s organs, over 100,000 Canadians registered as organ donors in the days and weeks that followed the Humbolt Broncos Bus crash. Logan’s courage spurred a nation to act.
We’re bringing awareness in support of organ donor registration across Canada while celebrating life.”
Approximately 250 Canadians die each year waiting for an organ transplant.
“The Humbolt crash isn’t just a hockey story. It’s a story about grief for 29 Canadian families,” says Mike Scardina, owner of Tile Town. For Mike, “The whole thing is an unbelievable tragedy. Watching the Boulet’s speak, and the amount of grief that they still feel, … it just breaks your heart. If there is anything that we can do to support their efforts – and honour their son’s selfless act – then that is what we’re doing at Tile Town.”
Wearing green on April 7 symbolizes remembering and recognizing all the victims and families of the fatal Humbolt Broncos Bus crash, while continuing Logan’s legacy to inspire Canadians to talk to their families and register as organ donors. Logan registered as an organ donor after learning that his coach and mentor, who passed away in 2017, was an organ donor.
As a past Richmond Sockeyes, a hockey coach for ten years, and a dad with three sons who play hockey, Mike Scardina knows the concern hockey parents face with kids travelling on buses to and from games.
The tragedy that befell the Humbolt Brocos last year hit too close to home for Mike and his wife for their son Keenan travels those very same roads while playing for the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. When the fundraising campaign for the families began, Mike immediately made a donation on behalf of each of his 29 employees.
Learning most Canadians say they support organ donation, but only 23% have registered their intent to donate, Mike feels compelled to do anything he can to honour Logan’s selfless act. When Joelle Cooke, Tile Town’s Surrey store manager, told Mike about Green Shirt Day, Mike saw this as an opportunity for all his employees to participate and support Logan’s legacy.
“As an owner of a company, I have the opportunity to make our employees feel part of something. Since we are not open on April 7, everyone on April 6 will be wearing a green shirt that we purchased on their behalf. We’re not doing this to talk people into becoming organ donors, nor are we making our employees feel compelled to register. We’re bringing awareness in support of organ donor registration across Canada while celebrating life.”
Approximately 250 Canadians die each year waiting for an organ transplant. Like Logan, you can help change this. Not sure what’s involved, check out the frequently asked questions about becoming a donor on the Green Shirt Day website. You can register as a donor in your province by visiting the Canadian Transplant Association.
At the end of the day, whatever your decision, talk to your family and loved ones about your intentions so they can honour your wishes.
